Auburn and the Tiger faithful hope to pickup where they left off last year. Coach Gus Malzahn and the Tigers have a very explosive offense and look to be faster this season. Yesterday's game against Arkansas proved that the Tigers are just that, faster.
Arkansas got the ball to start the game. Auburn was prepared and forced the Razorbacks to go three and out.
Auburn's first possession ended as successful as possible with a touchdown. The touchdown came off of the arm of Jeremy Johnson to Melvin Rey on a 49 yard reception. Auburn led the Hogs 7-0.
Arkansas answered back with a score of their own. Brandon Allen found Hunter Henry for a 14 yard touchdown. Arkansas tied it up 7-7.
Auburn's second possession went like the first with a touchdown. This time it came off a one yard run by Cameron Artis-Payne. Auburn now led 14-7.
Arkansas managed to drive the ball that came of not being forced to punt.
Auburn took advantage with another touchdown drive beginning in the second quarter. Johnson tosses a 18 yard touchdown pass to D'haquaille Williams. The Tigers increased its lead 21-7.
Arkansas came back with a scoring drive of its own. Allen found A.J. Derby for a 17 yard passing touchdown. The Razorbacks still trailed by seven, 21-14.
The Razorbacks then sends Auburn its first three and out in the game.
Arkansas took advantage of that three and out and puts together another scoring drive. Jonathan Williams powers his way six yards into the end zone for the Razorback score. The Hogs notched the score up 21 a piece.
The score by the Razorbacks was the last score of the half that left the score 21-21.
Auburn got the ball to begin the second half and Nick Marshall replace Johnson at quarterback. The Tigers put together a scoring drive that took less than two minutes. The touchdown came of the speed of Marshall for a 18 yard touchdown run. Auburn took the lead 28-21.
Both teams exchanged a couple of punts until the next score.
Auburn's Jermaine Whitehead intercepts the ball for a 33 yard return touchdown. The Tigers increased its lead 35-21.
The Razorbacks got the ball back but is forced to punt after six plays.
The Tigers obliged on the next possession with a field goal. Daniel Carlson drills the kick from 45 yards making the score 38-21.
Arkansas could not answer with a score of their own and forced to punt after six plays.
The Tigers got the ball back and melted a lot of clock and came away with a score. Corey Grant powered the ball into the end zone on a three yard run. Auburn now led 45-21.
The Razorbacks finished out the game with the ball and never managed to score. Auburn took the game by a big margin 45-21 and gave Arkansas its first loss of the season.
The Auburn Tigers looked highly impressive in today's showing against the Razorbacks. The Tiger's backup quarterback look terrific today. Johnson went 12-16 passing, 243 passing yards, and two touchdowns. Artis-Payne also had looked good today. Artis-Payne had 26 attempts, with 177 rushing touchdown. The Tigers look better than they did last year. Auburn looks great to make a run for the tittle again this year.
