Georgia came into the game today with high hopes to get payback on Clemson from last years loss. The first half was a back and forth game between Georgia and Clemson.
Clemson got the ball first to start the game. The Tigers drove down the field to the red zone. D.J. Howard powered ball one yard into the endzone for six. After the extra point Clemson had the lead 7-0 with 10:46 left in the quarter.
Georgia came back with a score of its own. Todd Gurly sped 23 yards for the score tying it up 7-7.
With 35 seconds left in the first quarter, UGA snuck away with another touchdown. This came off a two yard run by Huston Mason. Georgia led Clemson 14-7.
Clemson drove the ball down the field on the first possession of the second quarter. Clemson's Charone Peake found Deshaun Watson for a 30 yard touchdown. The Tigers notched it up 14 a piece.
After a drive that resulted in a punt by UGA, Clemson got the ball back. Clemson's C.J. Davidson found the endzone on a one yard run. The Tigers took the led 21-14
UGA did not take long to score. During the kickoff after the Clemson score, Todd Gurly returned the kick 100 yards to endzone for the Bulldog score. Georgia had tied it up the game 21-21.
Neither team scored the rest of the half and both teams would go into the break all notched up 21 a piece.
Georgia received the ball to begin the second half. The Bulldogs drove down the field and came away with a 27 yard field goal by Marshall Morgan. Georgia now led Clemson 24-21.
The rest of the quarter both teams exchanged many punts that took the game into the fourth quarter with UGA still leading 24-21.
Georgia got the ball back in the fourth with 13:08 left in the game. Georgia drove done the field by sticking to the run game with great results. Todd Gurly broke off a 18 yard run into the endzone that extended UGA's lead 31-21
The Bulldog defense forced Clemson into a three and out and gave Georgia the ball back with 9:13 left in the game.
Georgia would capitalize quickly one just one offensive play. Nick Chubb broke off a 47 yard rushing touchdown. Georgia increased its lead 38-21.
Clemson got the back with nothing to show for being forced into another three and out by the Georgia defense.
It did not take long for Georgia to score again only to need one play. Todd Gurly unleashed his speed for a 51 yard rushing touchdown. Georgia took the driving seat 45-21.
Clemson was yet again forced to a three and out that gave Georgia the ball back with 5:38 left in the game.
UGA melted the rest of time remaining in the game and gave Clemson its first loss of the season.
The Bulldogs looked highly impressive in its first ballgame of the year. Todd Gurly already looked in mid-season form rushing with 15 attempts, 198 rushing yards, and three touchdowns. Huston Mason played a good game as well. Mason went 18-26, 131 passing yards, and one rushing touchdown. This Georgia team looks to take the season by storm with hopes for a tittle.
