Braves and Reds Split Series

The Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds finished their four game series today but only to split the series two games each. Aaron Harang was on the mound for the Braves and Alfredo Simon for the Reds.

The Reds managed to get to Harang in the fourth inning by scrapping across three in the inning. The first tally came with the bases loaded off of a sacrifice fly by Ryan Ludwick driving in Todd Frazier and sending Brandon Phillips to third. Brayan Pena drove in the second score with a single that scored Brandon Phillips and sent Jay Bruce to second. The last run came off a single from Zack Cozart that scored Jay Bruce from second and making a 3-0 ballgame for Cincinnati.

The Reds came across another run in the sixth on a fielder's choice off of the bat of Zack Cozart that scored Jay Bruce making the Reds lead swell to 4-0.

The Braves did not scored its first run until the seventh that came off of a double from Tommy LaStella that scored Evan Gattis. That was the only Atlanta score in the inning making the game 4-1 in favor of the Reds.

The Reds get the one run back coming via of a solo homer by Todd Frazier and increasing the lead to 5-1.

The Braves had a rally going in the ninth that came from an Evan Gattis long-ball that closed the gap  5-2. Atlanta gets another run off of single by Jason Heyward the scored Emilo Bonifacio that made it a 5-3 ballgame.

The Reds managed to close out the inning and game 5-3. Aaron Harang receives his eighth loss of the year making his record 10-8. Alfredo Simon gets the win for the Reds that makes his record 13-8 and giving Jonathan Broxton his eighth save of the season. Atlanta will be off to New York to face the Mets on Tuesday night.
