Luverne High School battled to within two points of Opp  before falling to the Bobcats by a score of 36-26.  The Tigers turned the ball over on its first possession.

Luverne's first scoring drive was within the last seconds of the first quarter.  Tiger's quarterback Kenterius Womack found Rozerio Salter for a five yards on the last play of the quarter and downsizing Opp's lead 16-6.
The second Luverne touchdown came off of a forceful 39 yard run by Womack. The Tigers took the momentum going into the locker room by scoring on a fourth and goal with seconds to go in the half. Womack connected with Salter for a second time on a seven yard. The Tiger's pull within ten of Opp at the break 28-18.

Luverne continued with momentum going in the third quarter by forcing an early turnover by Opp. Within four plays the Tiger's scored on a one yard plunge by Treyvon Bodiford that cut Opp's lead to four. Luverne completed a successful two point conversion and pulled within two 28-26.

After exchanging punts, the Bobcats got the ball back with minutes left in the third quarter. Opp managed to put together a successful scoring drive with a 35 yard run by Orlando Lacey. The Bobcats added more cushion with the two point conversion on powerful run by Dyrian Savage. Opp pushed its lead back to ten points 36-26.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter and OHS pulled away with the victory with a final score of 36-26.

Luverne has a very young offensive and defensive line. Kenterius Womack made quick decisions. The second half looked a lot better for the Tigers, more calm and relaxed. The young line stepped up to their potential. This made it easier for Womack to stay in the pocket and make clear passes. Luverne does have some standouts this year on all places on the field. The man leading the offensive,Womack, is returning after a pretty good year with 2,000 plus passing yards. Uriah Brown will possibly be Womack's number one choice to pass to this year. Brown is a very reliable receiver. Womack does have some speedy receivers coming and going from the backfield, one being in the form of Kevontae May. Luverne may have something special this year in Rozerio Salter as a kick return specialist. Salter knows how to catch the ball, make guys miss tackles, and possess speed to have long returns this year.  The boys of Luverne have a lot of potential to do great things this football season. The Tigers will travel to Brantley next Thursday to take on their arch rivals, the Brantley Bulldogs.
